charged with attempting to board an aircraft with a weapon. a board is found a 25 caliber beretta in his garment bag and a clip containing six live rounds in the pocket. the gun was not loaded. he tried to tell police that he worked less as a security guard and did not realize the gun was in his bag. he does have a valid firearm owners id. the budget negotiation among state democrats was not that the senate investigation yesterday. he is among several potential contenders to run for the democrat nomination for jesse jackson jr. is vacated seat. we will keep you updated on what happens inside. a man whose trial was one of the first in illinois to allow cameras in the courtroom is being sentenced today in kankakee county. 20-year-old demetrious jones was found guilty of the murder of

27-year-old marcus sanders. he could face up to 50 years in prison. during the trial jurors watched a videotaped police interrogation in which jones admitted shooting sanders. but he told an investigator he only meant to wound sanders -- not kill him. investigators have found the car stolen in a slashing attack at a train station in northwest indiana but they're still looking for the suspect. 24-year-old jawaun woods of gary murder, robbery, and carjacking. he's accused of slashing a man's throat last week in a bathroom at the east chicago train station, then stealing the man's car, wallet and phone. the car was recovered in indianapolis. if you have any information on the case, you're asked to call the northern indiana commuter transportation district police. police are looking for more suspects after breaking up a dog fighting operation in the south suburbs. wgn's nancy loo has the latest from dolton. >> this operation was apparently pretty sophisticated. according

to the cook county sheriff they have an uptick in dogfighting cases and the bust here last night was evidence of that. a sign on the door of this apparently abandoned industrial building warrants to be aware of dog. a tip to police made them aware of the situation involving many dogs. the officers arrived just of the 7:00 last night to find an active dog fight operation complete with a makeshift ring and up to 10 pitbull. there was also signs of improper care and abuse. the people inside scattered running through the woods near the building on the 1500 block of 142nd. some even ran across the bishop for to get away. inside the police and county sheriff's office were able to arrest eight people including six who were

hiding in the rafters. it is not clear how many dog bites were held here but the surrounding area is littered with items like a dog food bag and packaging for to toys. all of the dogs were rescued here are now in the care of this out suburban humane society which is asking for donations for medical costs. while a number of people got away police expect to make more risk through the people they already have in custody and the eight cars they towed away from here last night. the driver of a car is killed after plowing into the back of a school bus. while children were boarding. it happened in limestone, near kankakee, at route 1-13 and warner bridge road this morning. authorities say a westbound chevrolet rear-ended a herscher high school bus.

the driver of the chevy died, and several kids were taken to hospitals for non-life threatening injuries. the exact cause of the crash. thieves broke into an exclusive store on oak street overnight... getting away with a large amount of shoes and purses. police say three men pried open the front door of the "jimmy choo" store just before two a-m. they took various items... including handbags worth between one-thouand and three- thousand dollars *each*. shoes were also missing. those can cost as much as 3- thousand dollars a pair. the suspects fled in a waiting car. no arrests have been made. the investigation of a deadly street fight in 2004 now involves a former bodyguard for

mayor richard daley. daley's nephew, richard vanecko, is charged with involuntary manslaughter, for a punch that killed david koschman outside a division street club. the sun-times reports, an investigator for the special prosecutor's office questioned a daley bodyguard who may have served as a chauffeur for vanecko. the bodyguard was removed from the mayoral detail by mayor emanuel. another name has surfaced in the city of chicago's controversial new janitorial contract at o'hare airport. paul fosco is a vice president for the company that runs "united maintenance." 25 years ago, fosco went to prison for racketeering, in a scheme to defraud the laborers union, run by his father. >> the allegation at the time during the prosecution was that organized crime was connected to this scheme to or the conspiracy to pay bribes. >> this city of chicago should be concerned ... working at this

countrycompany. a spokesman for united maintenance says, paul fosco has been a good employee since richard simon bought the company three years ago. the company says it has no mob connections. and mayor emanuel says the company earned the o'hare maintenance contract fairly, and it'll be punished if it does anything illegal. an online auction begins today on items owned by the woman accused of stealing millions of dollars from the small town of dixon, illinois. here's a look at some of the while serving as dixon's comptroller. in additon to high-end furniture, crundwell owned a ranch, 400 horses and a luxury motor home. crundwell has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than 53 million dollars in taxpayer money. the auction runs through saturday on the website "professionalauction.com." hostess may have a buyer for its wonder bread brand.. but even with a sale, it could take months before production of america's largest bread brand ramps up again. if the unidentified buyer does buy wonder and and restarts the company, it still may not hire some of the 6

federal officials have filed a complaint against a company that makes baby products after five infants died. the consumer product safety commission was in discussions with "baby matters llc" to recall a popular infant recliner called the "nap nanny." children were found hanging or

fell out of the recliner and were injured or killed. talks for a voluntary recall broke down... so commissioners are asking a court to order a mandatory recall. "baby matters" has not issued a response to the federal complaint. at several major retailers are accused of failing to warn consumers about dangerous chemicals and paper products. the state of california is expected to file legal notices today against amazon, target and wal-mart urging them to recall the affected products. officials said the stores do not have required warning labels on upholstered furniture and baby products which contain unsafe limb to levels of chlorinated tress. the chemical flame retardant is known as a carcinogen. wal-mart and amazon did not comment on the report. target said it is committed to following state and federal laws and expect vendors to do the same.

just into the newsroom center mark kirk will return to work on january 3rd. it is almost been a year since kirk suffered a stroke. he has had multiple surgeries including an operation to reduce swelling around his brain. the lawmakers are planning a big celebration party for when he comes back. two chicago law professors are to erase part of a landmark verdict involving a police "code of silence." one of the professors about the potential long-term effects of the city's plan. >> the two professors are increasing the code of silence verdict and will allow more police misconduct. they filed a

motion to erase the verdict. this infamous video shows a cop assaulting a bartender. the code of silence predict rogue officers. they have agreed to allow the verdict to be set aside for an $850,000 settlement and assurance that should not lose the money on appeal. northwestern law professor who is calling thefollowing the motion will ensure that there will be justice in the future.

>> cohen said the code assignmentthe city's motion to erase the verdict goes before the judge on friday morning. video of chicago rapper "chief keef" holding a gun can be used against him at his upcoming probation hearing. his real name is keith cozart, and he's on probation for pointing a gun at a chicago police officer. "pitchfork media" taped an interview with him as he held a rifle at a gun range. prosecutors argue, cozart violated his probation by visiting the gun range. "pitchfork" initially refused to turn over the uncut version of the video citing first amendment protections.

but, a judge has now ruled that "pitchfork" must give that video to prosecutors. his juvenile court hearing will take place on december 17th. a guardian angel lived up to the name when he helped a disabled woman who fell on to the cta tracks. the accident happened at the diversey street station of the brown line sunday morning. the guardian angels say the woman lost control of her motorized wheelchair and fell in front of a train that had stopped to pick up passengers. guardian angel keunthi davis responded by notifying cta of the accident calling 911 and staying with the woman until emergency workers arrived. keunthi davis was also one of four guardian angels who was stabbed last may while stopping a pistol whipping and robbery on the red line. still to come this midday - how long is our mild weather going to stick around? tom skilling has your full forecast

it has been an extraordinarily mild winter. it has the winter that just does not want to get going. this is the and ninth ward and the last one for two years. we have a fraction of the normal amount of snow. 10 days with an inch of snow on the brown vs. 43 last winter. a lot of folks are saying they could handle some snow. the consolidation of all the models into one single well-defined storm is not happening. it has been 277 days since our last measurable snow. that occurred

back on march 4th last year. a measurable snow is defined as one-tenth of an inch or more of snow. we have had tours around but nothing that has one-tenth of an inch or more. 280 days would make this a record. we are moving in on a record. we looked at the 4 in. equators knows by months. two of them typically in october 17 in november, then january and february you hit prime time on the big snows. about one-quarter of our 4 in. snows occur in december but we do not see one on the way. we are three degrees warmer today than we were yesterday. that is a broad smile the area in our region and the temperatures are falling substantially. this is the kind of pattern that has embedded in it somewhere snow.

cold air is bottled up up north in canada. the one in the morning and now. 52 degrees at st. louis. we may be flirting with the thick degree mark later on to do. see the rain returns but it's not all reaching the ground. there some mixed snow and precipitation of state. it is headed this way. our model does not actually show. this evening cloudy and a couple sprinkles of light showers. we will have patches of light rain flirting with us during the day tomorrow. it looks like a solid overcast. the accumulating snow is up north of us. much of that will come into the weather system on saturday night and sunday. we think some areas might hit '50s. cold air is
